Reading the Bible it is a wonderful way to be in touch with God's Word, to develop a kind of conscious about what God wants for us. if we dig into God's Word with an open heart we will learn how to live wisely and allow God to lead our paths "Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path" - Psalm 119, 105. And if God lead our paths, eventually we will find our purpose.
We could start studying the Scriptures, study is an analytical action that requires concentration and focus so we could grow in our understanding of God. The study of Scriptures involves not only reading, but active involvement in observation, interpretation, and application of its contents. "Let your thoughts to be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth," - Colossians 3, 2.
It will be always good to include a devotional reflection that lead us to know what those words means to us, and that should be help us to find the application of the content into our lives. We could also meditate in order to fill our mind with God's Word. Finally we need to respond by action practicing what we learned.

- Guidance for decision making: "for learning what wisdom and discipline are, for understanding words of deep meaning, for acquiring a disciplined insight, uprightness, justice and fair dealing; for teaching sound judgement to the simple, and knowledge and reflection to the young; let the wise listen and learn yet more, and a person of discernment will acquire the art of guidance." - Proverbs 1, 2-5.
